Tottenham transfer news: Netherlands international rejected move to Galatasaray

Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen has revealed that he rejected a move to Galatasaray over the January transfer window.

Turkish-Football recently reported that Galatasaray made a move for the Netherlands international last month.

Jansen has now confirmed to the Mirror that he turned down a move to the Istanbul based club.

The 22-year-old striker has insisted that he wants to remain at Tottenham and is willing to fight for his Premier League future.

“I have given myself 12 months to succeed in the Premier League with Tottenham. And those 12 months are not over yet. The level is really high here. Up until last week we were second in the league” Janssen was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

“Don’t forget I had only played one season at the highest level in Holland when Spurs bought me from AZ Alkmaar. In a short period of time I have made some big steps forward in my career.

“When my agent turned up with Galatasaray I told him that he had to cut off the whole thing! No way I am leaving Spurs in less than one year!’’

Galatasaray wanted to sign Janssen on a six-month loan deal after failing to sign a forward over the winter transfer window.

Vincent Janssen’s Tottenham future has been cast in doubt after manager Mauricio Pochettino dropped him from the squad. The former FC Twente striker’s last start was in the FA Cup last month.

The out-of-form striker was also left out of Tottenham’s squad which faced Gent in the Europa League on Thursday.
