Robin van Persie was on target yet again over the weekend scoring in Fenerbahçe’s 2-1 win over Sivasspor to take the Yellow Canaries within just one point of leaders Beşiktaş.
The Dutch star now has nine goals and an assist in all competitions despite missing a large chunk of the season due to injury and lacking match fitness.
Former Manchester United star and football pundit Rio Ferdinand revealed that he believes his former side made a big mistake selling Van Persie and Chicharito over the summer.
Ferdinand believes that both players would have offered United at least another 30 goals combined this season.
“The likes of Robin van Persie guarantee you 15 goals a season,” Ferdinand said speaking on BT Sport 1 after the goalless draw between Manchester United and Chelsea.
“Robin van Persie would come off the bench and change the game.”
Van Persie joined Fenerbahçe on a three-year deal while Chicharito left for Bundesliga giant Bayer Leverkusen.
The Mexican international and Van Persie have a combined 28 goals and three assist in all competitions tis season which is more than United’s entire forward line combined – Rooney, Martial, Depay and Fellaini who have 21 goals together in total.
