Need For Goals

Let’s face it Everton are struggling for goals. Only Burnley have found the back of the net fewer times than the Toffees this season. The Merseyside based outfit failed to find a suitable replacement for Romelu Lukaku over the summer but Cenk Tosun could be just the man to solve their goal-scoring woes.

Tosun scored 24 times in all competitions last season and netted 14 times this term.

The 26-year-old has 14 goals and three assists in total.

For those of you wondering if he can cut it at the highest level it is worth pointing out that his best performances were saved for the Champions League where he scored four times and provided two assists in the competition.

Winning Mentality

Tosun has exceeded expectations since joining Besiktas. He was signed as a third-choice striker but ended up challenging Demba Ba for his role in his first year.

The striker then competed with Mario Gomez for a first-choice place and finally pipped Vincent Aboubakar as the numbero uno last season.

Tosun cemented his first place role this season relegating Alvaro Negredo to the bench.

The 26-year-old played an integral role in Besiktas winning back-to-back titles over the past two seasons.

Besiktas also ended up becoming the first Turkish side to book a place in the Last 16 as group leaders this term.

The Turkey international was directly involved in six of the Istanbul giants 11 goals in Group G.

Tosun ended the campaign as the highest scoring Besiktas player in the Champions League.

Well Travelled

Tosun was born in Germany, was raised at the Frankfurt academy before moving to Gaziantepspor on the Syrian border. The star striker then joined Istanbul based Besiktas. The striker is used to settling in to different cites and countries. The Turkey international also happens to speak fluent English which should help him accustomise quickly. Players often need a while to settle in when moving from abroad. Tosun has managed to fit in without much hassltle at every club he has joined so far.
