Germany blew a two goal lead to lose 3-2 against England in the international friendly yesterday in the Berlin, Olympic stadium.
Emre Can started but was not deployed in the central midfield role he has grow to become accustomed to at Liverpool.
Instead Germany boss Joachim Low played him as a full-back. Here are three things we learned following his performance.
1. Versatility
Can plays as a central midfielder for Liverpool but it was not long ago that former head coach Brendan Rodgers played him as a full-back. The 22-year-old demonstrated that he has not forgotten how to play in defence against England putting on a solid display. The young midfielder showed his versatility in playing out of position and as has come to be expected from the Germany international of Turkish origin he put in maximum effort.
The concept of universality – put simply footballers that can attack and defend – is being demanded at the highest level. Can’s versatility make him an important asset in the modern game where positional flexibility is required.
2. Defence and Attack
Can worked hard defensively making the highest number of interceptions (4) for his team and also made a number of important clearances and blocks. The young midfielder did pick up a yellow card on 39 minutes for a rash challenge but otherwise he put on a decent defensive performance.
The Germany international also posed a threat going forwards making the highest number of dribbles (3) and contributing to attacking moves bombing up and down the wing.

3. Could swap football for modelling
Can seems to attract as much praise for his looks as he does for the football he plays.

This was probably the pick of the bunch. Can drove this tweeter to question his own sexuality.
Is it wrong to be a guy & fancy Emre Can?
Asking for a mate.
