Gokhan Inler came off the bench during Leicester City’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League.
The Foxes returned to the top of the table as Jamie Vardy added yet another goal to his tally.
Inler has found it tough to break into Leicester’s winning side since joining back in July from Napoli.
The Switzerland international has made just four Premier League appearances this season for the Foxes.
Inler joined the Premier League outfit for a reported £5 million transfer fee despite interest from Bundesliga outfit Schalke and Turkish giants Beşiktaş.
The former Udinese midfielder scored one goal in 33 appearances for Napoli in all competitions last season. The 31-year-old has won 84 caps and played in two FIFA World Cups.
Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has likened the transfer of Inler to Napoli’s signing of Diego Maradona.
We want to build our foundation and with a big foundation you can then build the first floor, second floor and everything. Inler is one of our foundations,” Ranieri was quoted as saying by the BBC.
“I remember when nobody wanted to go to Naples. But after Maradona everyone wants to go to Naples.
“If we start to build maybe in three or four years a lot of players will want to come to Leicester. Why not?”
Maradona moved to Napoli in 1984, and helped them lift two Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia triumph and a Uefa Cup win.
