Turkish international star Arda Turan was involved in one of the most dramatic transfer sagas of the summer transfer window.
The bearded winger was initially reported to be on the verge of a move to the Premier League but Barcelona stepped in last minute to snap him up on a five-year deal despite serving a transfer ban.
Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut has revealed that Manchester United did actually make a move for the 28-year-old winger but that the offer was made last year and that Atleti rejected the bid.
“Last season Manchester United made a bid for Arda but Atletico Madrid did not want him to leave,” Bulut told AMK.
Bulut also revealed that he was holding talks with Barcelona for a lengthy period of time in secrecy.
“I was in talks with Barcelona but told nobody about it at the time,” he added.
Turan eventually joined Barcelona but has yet to make a single appearance for the reigning La Liga champions due to the FIFA transfer ban in place.
Barcelona will be able to register Turan once the transfer window opens in January.
The Turkish international is expected to make his debut against Granada at the Camp Nou in January.
