Can has struggled in recent weeks in central midfield with his passing accuracy averaging at 81% this season in the league.
Liverpool remain in ninth position following todays defeat with 24 points in 17 games. Watford also remain in seventh place with 28 points in 17 matches.
The Hornets have now won four games in a row and are just a point off the top four.
