Arsenal star Mesut Özil has had a brilliant last few months and wanted to wrap up a memorable year with a few Christmas presents for his fans. The World Cup winner was however, unable to find any presents in his room but did reveal that he hopes to assist in delivering presents against Southampton.
The imaginative story was part of Özil’s quirky Instagram Christmas message for his fans.
The image of Özil’s messy hotel room was accompanied by the following caption: “I turned the hotel room upside down but could’t find any boxes for you, #Gunners! Hopefully we have a gift for our fans tomorrow… #boxingday #SFCvAFC #AFC”
Özil has of course been delivering the goods on the field this season. The 27-year-old has provided 15 assists in 16 league games which is not only the best record in England but also the top five leagues in Europe including Spain, France, Germany and Italy.
The Gunners star is expected to start for the north London based side against Southampton today at the St Mary’s stadium.
Arsenal are currently in second place just two points behind league leaders Leicester City who take on Liverpool today.
