The former West Ham United forward Paolo Di Canio has heaped praise on Liverpool’s midfielder Emre Can during an interview with FOX Sports Italy.
Di Canio believes the 21-year-old has all the attributes to succeed at an Italian club.
“Emre Can made his debut in the national team as a full-back, but started his career as a central midfielder,” Di Canio said on FOX Sports Italy.
“He can play in front of the defence, as a two in the midfield and also in a midfield three. Rodgers also used him the defence as part of a back three.
“He has personality, physicality and is not afraid of a fight. In Italy he could become a very important player.”
Can played the full 90 minutes in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Stoke City at the Britannia stadium in the League Cup semi-final first-leg tie. The Red’s host Stoke City at Anfield for the return leg on January 26 January 2016.
The Germany international put on another hard working performance in midfield making the joint highest number of tackles (4) and also helped keep possession making the joint highest number of passes (43).
