Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has put to bed any rumours that Lazar Markovic will be returning from his loan move over the transfer window.

Markovic joined Fenerbahçe on a temporary move over the summer transfer window but the decision to send the 21-year-old out on loan was made by former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers was replaced by Jurgen Klopp in October there were reports that the German manager was considering bringing Markovic back over the winter transfer period.

Klopp was quoted by Team Talk as saying: “I don’t think we can take him back.”

The statement was interpreted in the Turkish press as a hint suggesting that Klopp is prepared to part ways with the Serbian international over the summer.

Fenerbahçe meanwhile want to extend Lazar Markovic’s loan deal by another season according to Mynet.

Markovic joined Liverpool in 2014 from Portuguese giants Benfica after being tipped as one of the hottest properties in European football but struggled to settle in under Rodgers.

The Serbian international has two assists and one goal for the Yellow Canaries this season.
