Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated that he expects Mesut Özil to start against Liverpool tonight in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old was rested for the weekend clash with Sunderland in the FA Cup. Arsenal ended up beating Sunderland by a 3-1 scoreline despite fielding a weakened side.
“We should have Mesut Özil & Flamini available [for the Liverpool game],” Wenger stated at a press conference (via Daily Mail).
Özil has been in great form for the Gunners this season providing 16 assists in 19 league games.
The 27-year-old was not nominated for the 2015 Ballon D’or 2015 awards yesterday but if he keeps this us and helps the Gunners win the league he may just make the shortlist next year.
