The former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has criticised Liverpool’s current captain Jordan Henderson.
Collymore went onto say that Emre Can should be the club captain and a team should be built around him.
“I’m not convinced about Jordan Henderson either. Captain, youth, good looks and the new poster boy of Liverpool, he’s almost been given a free pass when it comes to critical scrutiny of his performances and where he actually is in his development,” Collymore told the Boylesport blog.
“For me the skipper would be Can and build around him and his undoubted qualities.”
Can played the full 90 minutes during Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of their rivals Manchester United in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old played in midfield once again alongside Lucas Leiva and Jordan Henderson. The Germany international has been a constant feature in the Red’s starting line-up since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp.
Can has one goal and one assist in 30 appearances for Liverpool this season.
