Chelsea must contain the threat posed by Mesut Ozil in their upcoming clash with Arsenal on Sunday according to Jamie Redknapp.
The SkySport’s pundit goes as far to say that Chelsea’s chances of a win at the Emirates hinge on their ability to deny Ozil the freedom in the game.
“If Matic and Mikel start, they have to attach themselves to Ozil because if they don’t he will be the one everyone’s talking about at full-time,” Redknapp told SkySports.
“You cannot let players of his quality have the freedom of the park because he will destroy you, that’s what he’s been doing to teams.”
Ozil missed the game due to a foot injury but that did not stop Arsenal fans paying tribute to the playmaker.
The Germany international has already provided 16 assists in the Premier League this season and is just four assists away from matching Thierry Henry’s record tally of 20.
Arsenal will remain at the top of the table if they defeat Chelsea on Sunday however, if the Gunners drop points they can be overtaken by both Manchester City and Leicester City.
