Talks between Fenerbahce and Roma striker Seydou Doumbia have broken down according to Sky Italia.
The report states that Fenerbahce were unwilling to match the Ivory Coast international’s wage demands.
Doumbia spent the first half of the season on loan with CSKA Moscow, but the Russian club don’t want to make the move permanent.
The 28-year-old has however stated that he does not want to play for Roma.
“I can’t imagine myself returning,” Doumbia told Jeune Afrique.
“Even though I still have a two-year contract with the Italian club, I think we’ll reach an agreement.
“It went wrong for me. The fans started whistling me from the first game, and it didn’t stop until I left.
“Why? The Coach [Rudi Garcia] made me play, when I had just returned from the Cup of Nations and I probably wasn’t ready.”
Fenerbahce are on the lookout for a new striker following the departure of Moussa Sow over the summer. The Yellow Canaries have just two strikers in their squad.
Leicester City are keen to sign Doumbia during the January transfer window according to TalkSport.
Doumbia has five assists and 11 goals for CSKA Moscow this season.
