Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil has stated that Leicester City has been one the biggest surprises in the European football.
The Foxes were tipped to be involved in a relegation battle at the beginning of the season but find themselves in first place after 25 games.
“That Leicester lead the Premier League by this margin in February is one of the biggest surprises in the European top flights in the past few years.” Ozil told German magazine SID (via ESPN).
“We are now challenged to change that.”
Leicester City are unbeaten in their last seven games and have won the last three games in a row. Claudio Ranieri’s side defeated Manchester City by a 3-1 scoreline this weekend to go five goals clear at the top.
Arsenal are joint second in the Premier League with Tottenham on 48 points each. Gunners are five points behind leaders Leicester City.
Ozil’s side has the opportunity to reduce the gap to just two points when they take on Leicester this weekend in the league.
