Arda Turan was involved in one of the transfer sagas of the summer transfer window. The bearded winger looked to be on the verge of joining one of the Premier League giants before Barcelona swooped in last minute and clinched the transfer despite serving a FIFA transfer ban.
Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut has confirmed that he did receive official offers from Premier League sides but that the chance to play at Barcelona proved to be an offer too good to turn down.
“We had some great offers from the Premier League and we actually turned down the first bid made by Barcelona and it was only after they offered more attractive terms that we agreed,” Bulut was quoted as saying by the Fanatik.
Bulut did reveal at the time that Turan had offers from the Premier League and confirmed that he would be joining a side playing Champions League football which narrowed down the list to Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.
“I have not spoke with anyone from Barcelona these newspaper stories are just rumours,” Bulut told NTV Spor last summer.
“He intends to leave Spain this summer. It is his will to go out to play in the Premiership, that is where he would like to continue his career at this time,” he added.
Turan had to wait six-months to make his debut and has been in the winning side in all eight of his appearances since his first game against Espanyol in the Turkish Cup last month.
