Nigerian international striker has Emmanuel Emenike has revealed that he believes joining West Ham on-loan from Fenerbahce was ordained by God.
Emenike revealed that he was happy at Al Ain where he scored 7 times in 11 appearances on a temporary move over the first half of the season but underlined that he could not turn down the opportunity to play in the Premier League.
“My transfer to West Ham came at the right time. It is like a blessing. I did not want to leave Al Ain but I think God ordained the move, it happened so fast and coming to the English Premiership is something I have always wanted,” Emenike told the Nation newspaper.
Emenike also revealed that he did not join the Hammers for the money – he was earning more at Al Ain – and that he wants to prove himself in the Premier League.
“This move is not about money but it is difficult to explain to people who think every move is down to money. I have learned from my past, I am a striker and I want to prove that I can still score goals,” he added.
The 28-year-old stated that he has been impressed with the atmosphere at Upton Park but asked the fans for time to allow him to settle in.
“I will get well and better in the team, the atmosphere is great, and I am hoping to start on a high note. I am hoping my teammates and the coach will help me to fit in perfectly because I am ready to adapt quickly and keep the confidence alive,” he said.
Emenike has made two appearances since joining on his six-month loan but has yet to start. The powerful striker has yet to score or provide an assist but he has come close on a number of occasions and had the chance to score the winning goal in the 2-2 draw against Norwich but missed.
