Fenerbahce beat Lokomotiv Moscow 2-0 at the Sukru Saracoglu to go into the Europa League Round of 32 second-leg with a healthy lead on aggregate.
Vitor Pereiera decided to give Robin van Persie the nod ahead of in-form striker Fernandao upfront but it was defensive midfielder Josef de Souza who opened the scoring with a well timed header on 18 minutes.
Souza bagged his brace in the second half scoring twice in a game for the first time since joining the Yellow Canaries on an €8 million move this summer.
The Brazilian defensive midfielder had a superb game completing 98 percent of his passes including all his long ball efforts.
Souza and his partner in crime in midfield Mehmet Topal helped control 57 percent possession and dictate the tempo of the game.
Fenerbahce ended up comfortable winners with Lokomotiv rarely threatening Fabiano in goal. The Yellow Canaries only regret will be not scoring more goals but they will still be confident of their chances to progress to the quarter-finals.
