Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to reminisce about his debut at Schalke 04.
The Germany international kicked off his career in Gelsenkirchen in August 2006.
Ozil posted a picture of himself looking onto the Veltins Arena along with the caption, “A place I will never forget.”
The 27-year-old spent four years at Schalke 04 before moving to Werder Bremen. Ozil later moved to Wolfsburg before signing for Real Madid. The midfield playmaker joined Arsenal on a club record €42 million from Madrid back in September 2013.
The Germany international’s current deal with Arsenal expires in 2018. According to the Sun, Ozil was in talks over £160,000-a-week in deal which will keep him at Arsenal until 2019.
Arsenal host Barcelona at the Emeritus stadium in the UEFA Champions league next week.
Ozil has been in impressive form this season with six goals in all competitions as well as 17 assists in the Premier League – the highest in the league.
