Mesut Ozil would improve the Barcelona team according to the Germany legend Lothar Matthaus.
The Arsenal star has been linked with a move to the La Liga champions by the the German newspaper Bild.
Matthaus stated that Ozil is already proven in Spain and would add to Barcelona’s midfield with his impressive assist rate.
“If next to Rakitic, there was someone like Ozil, who collected about 20 goal assists in the Premier League, which of course someone like Ronaldo and Real Madrid already profited from,” Matthaus told Yahoo.
“Of course they are already very aware of that in Barcelona, but I’m pretty sure Arsenal won’t let him go.”
Barcelona are currently on a 31 match unbeaten run and travel to London to take on Arsenal in the Uefa Champions League next week.
The Catalan giants are the current Champions league holders and could be the first side to win the trophy two times in a row this season.
The 27-year-old has been in impressive form this season with six goals in all competitions as well as 17 assists in the Premier League – the highest in the league.
