Turkish international Arda Turan feels Lionel Messi’s now infamous penalty against Celta Viga has been blown way out of proportion.
Turan believes it was just a bit of fun that entertained the fans and that it should not be taken so seriously.
“Leo [Messi], Neymar and Luis Suarez want to make football more fun. Not just for the team, they do for football. They want to make this much more fun,” Turan was quoted as saying by Marca.
Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick in the 6-1 win over Celta Vigo including one of the most audacious penalties ever seen.
Lionel Messi did not shoot the penalty but instead passed it to the Uruguayan international who found the back of the net.
The penalty sparked both outrage and praise with fans, pundits and fellow players either loving the imagination shown or slamming the Argentinian for showing his opposition disrespect.

Turan did not start the game but was brought on in the last 15 minutes. The beaded winger has three assists in 11 appearances for Barca this season.
