Arda Turan joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid last season but had to wait six-months to get his debut due to the FIFA transfer ban imposed on his club.
Turan spent his time on the sidelines adapting to the Barcelona way and it seems to have paid off. Barca have won all 14 games in which the Turkish international has featured and while it would be a little far-fetched to claim Turan was solely responsible when you have the likes of Messi, Suarez and Neymar in the team but it would be unfair to underplay the role he has had either.
The bearded winger has three assists and a goal to his name which is a pretty decent return but he has been working assiduously in midfield making key interceptions and keeping possession with a passing accuracy that averages 90 percent – highest in the midfield.
Barcelona have scored 51 times and perhaps more impressively conceded just nine goals in the 14 games Turan has featured in. In fact Barca have not conceded more than a single goal in any one game that Turan has played in contrast to letting in more than one goal four times in the league in games he has not made an appearance.
Turan has already won every domestic Spanish title. Perhaps this could be the year he lifts the one title that has eluded him – the Champions League.
