Arsenal legend Ian Wright lavished praise on Besiktas striker Mario Gomez following his performance against England.
Germany ended up losing the international friendly 3-2 but Gomez scored for the home side and would have had a brace had the linesman not made the wrong call.
Speaking on ITV during half-time during the Germany v England friendly Wright said: “Mario Gomez was miles on side. He has been doing this for Besiktas all season.”
Gomez scored in the first half but his goal was ruled offside however, the replay showed that the goal should have stood as he was on side.
The experienced striker did get his name on the scoresheet in the second half putting Germany 2-0 ahead with a brilliant header.
Despite taking a two goal lead at home Germany ended up losing the game 3-2 and England extended their win streak to 11 games on the trot.
Gomez has scored 21 goals in all competitions for Besiktas this season but his goal for Germany was his first in international football since 2012 when the found the back of the net against the Netherlands.
