The former Bayern Munich midfielder Lothar Matthaus has shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s star midfielder Mesut Ozil.
Matthaus heaped praise on his German compatriot during the international friendly with England.
“I think Mesut is a fantastic player,”Matthaus told ITV.
“We miss him here and he is showing in England again his quality. I think he is the same player (as he was at Real Madrid). On a good day, he can make a difference in the game.”
Ozil was on the losing side on the night as Germany ended up losing 3-2 to England with a last-gasp winner from Eric Dier.
The 27-year-old did however, add to his assist tally setting up the opening goal – well providing the pass before Kroos did all the hard work and scored from outside the area.
Ozil created the joint highest number of chances (2) as has come to be expected this season.
