Emre Can is probably complimented on his looks more than any other Liverpool player but it appears that the club is responsible for his physique.
Can revealed that he became more muscular at Liverpool and that his hard work in gym has paid off on the pitch dealing with burly Premier League players.
“I do believe that I have put on muscle mass. This is necessary in order to defend against very physical opponents and helps you to fight back,” Can told the Frankfurter Rundschau.
The 22-year-old is a physical central midfielder and often uses his strength to his advantage which comes in handy for Premier League football – often described as being one of the most physically demanding leagues.
Can was called up for the Germany national team against England which they lost 3-2. The Germans did however, beat Italy 4-1 yesterday at the Allianz Arena.
The central midfielder is one of two ethnic Turks in the current Germany national team setup along with Arsenal star Mesut Ozil.
Liverpool take on Tottenham next on Saturday 2 April at Anfield – Can is expected to start.
