Mesut Ozil has revealed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is an extraordinary manager and is the reason he joined the north London club.
The World Cup winner also stated that Wenger was desperate to sign him from Real Madrid and managed to convince him to make the switch.
“He played a major role in my decision to join Arsenal. He was desperate to sign me. Everybody knows he is an extraordinary manager,” Ozil was quoted as saying by Daily Mail.
Ozil was rumoured to have fell out with Wenger a few weeks back but strongly denied all claims and has backed the head coach on a number of occasions since.
The playmaker was said to have threatened to leave the north London based club if Arsene Wenger stays on as head coach at the end of the season according to the Daily Star [via Don Balon].
Ozil shared a tweet soon after backing the Arsenal boss and underlining that the experience manager was one of the main reasons he decided to join the club.
