The Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has heaped praise on Real Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane.
Ozil revealed that used to study former Juventus midfielder Zidane in a bid to improve on his own game.
“Zidane was a magnificent player. I loved the way he played,” Ozil was quoted as saying by the Sun.
“I watched many of his matches when I was young and tried to adapt his cleverness and vision to my game.
“He was able to read the game and direct play without any unnecessary tricks and showboating. That’s what makes him so special.
Ozil joned Arsenal from Real Madrid back in September 2013 for a club record £42 million.
Arsenal take on Watford next at the Emirates today and Ozil is expected to start after returning from the international break featuring against both England and Italy.
Ozil has 19 assists and seven goals in 38 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions this season.
