New Man City boss Guardiola shuts down talk of Gundogan transfer

In-coming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has dismissed talk of Ilkay Gundogan joining the City Blues over the summer.

Ilkay Gundogan is set to put pen-to-paper on a five year deal at Manchester City according to the German tabloid Bild.

However, Guardiola quickly muted talk of the deal when asked for his oppinion on the rumours linking Gundogan’s with City.

“I am the coach of Bayern Munich,” Guardiola said when asked by reporters aboutGundogan.

 

Gundogan recently confirmed that he rejected an offer from Manchester United last year and opted to sign a contract extension with Dortmund.

The Germany international currently has one-year remanning on his contract with Dortmund which expires in June but he is reported to have refused to sign a new deal in order to push through a summer transfer.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Italian champions Juventus are also reported to be in the race for Dortmund midfielder.
