Arsenal captain Per Metesacker has said that he and his teammates look to Mesut Ozil when in the final third.
The experinced defender stated that they are confident in Ozil’s ability to make the final decision or make the final ball.
Metesacker also went onto say that the prediction he made last season about Ozil improving once fit has come to fruition.
“I felt that when he was fit, he would be at his best – that was my prediction,” said Mertesacker.
“I hoped that he would stay fit so we would get the best out of him, that was just my simple idea. You could feel he would help us win games.
“He is [progressing], especially in the final third. We try to give him the ball to make the final decision or make the final ball because we know that is where he is at his best.”
Ozil has been in impressive for this season and has provided the highest number of assists in the Premier League this season (19).
The former Real Madrid playmaker could have more assists to his name had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates. Ozil has created the most chances in the league (122) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.
