The Gunners slim title hopes came to an end following yesterdays encounter and now have to fend off Manchester United and West Ham United for forth place.
Ozil was included in Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven and was deployed in his favoured number ten role behind the striker Olivier Giroud.
The Germany international received a warm reception Arsenal fans on despite the teams disappointing result.

The former Real Madrid man has been in stunning for this season and has provided the highest number of assists in the league this season (18).
Ozil could have more assists to his name had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates.
The Germany international has created the most chances in the league (122) but the Gunners have the lowest goal record in the top four.
