Liverpool are also ‘keen’ on signing the Besiktas target Thomas Vermaelen according to TalkSport.
The sports radio station have stated that the Red’s are ‘keen on the Belgium international who has failed to break into the first team.
Barcelona are prepared to offload their centre back Vermaelen at the end of the season according to the Turkish newspaper Fanatik. The Turkish newspaper also claim that Besiktas have established contact with Barcelona over the experinced defender.
Vermaelen has struggled with injuries since joining the Catalan giants from Arsenal for £15 million.
The 30-year-old made 150 appearances for Arsenal during his five-year spell at the north London based club. Vermaelen has however made just 10 league appearances this season for Barcleona.
Barcelona take on Real Betis in the Spanish league next weekend. Luis Enrique’s side recorded a 6-0 win over Sporting this week.
