Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has shed light on the extent of Mesut Ozil’s which ruled him out of the Gunners 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

The experinced French manager was asked before the game about the star playmakers absence.

“He has a hip problem from yesterdays training,” Wenger told SkySports.

When asked about the extent of the injury the Arsenal manager said, “I don’t think so, its a question of days. He was unable to walk properly.”

It is unknown whether Ozil will be fit in time for the Gunners’ clash with Aston Villa next weekend. The 27-year-old is also at risk at missing preparations for the European championships in France this summer.

Ozil has enjoyed an impressive season for the Gunners this season so far.

The former Real Madrid playmaker has recorded 18 assists and with two games to go still has a chance of equalling the Premier League record of 20 set by Thierry Henry.

Ozil has created the most chances in the league (137) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.
