Ilkay Gundogan will undergo an operation on his knee after dislocating his patella during a training session earlier this month.
German newspaper Bild reported on Friday that Gundogan had opted to undergo surgery on the injury, which means he will miss this summer’s Euros.
Premier League duo Manchester City and Arsenal are both interested in the midfield playmaker according to the Daily Mail newspaper.
However, the Sun claims that City director of football Txiki Begiristain and Pep Guardiola have managed to convince the Germany international of Turkish origin to join the club after weeks of talks.
Gundogan’s fitness has been under scrutiny after the 25-year-old missed a year of football due to a back injury. His latest injury comes off the back of another injury Gundogan picked up in March which kept him out for a month.
