Besiktas star Mario Gomez may decide to leave the Turkish champions over the summer and move to England according to German manager Christoph Daum.
The former Besiktas manager told BILD that Gomez has received several offers from Premier League sides.
Daum also underlined that Gomez is not interested in returning to Italy although he current has a contract with Fiorentina.
“He has been instrumental in Besiktas winning the championship and decided many games on his own,” Daum said.
“As top scorer in Turkey, you’re an absolute hero. You will carried on shoulders through the city.
“But what I have heard from some advisers is that English clubs like him.
“I do not think he will go back to Italy. He wants to move to another location.”
Daum also said Gomez would not stay at Besiktas despite the Black Eagles claiming otherwise. The Germany international has himself also stated that he is considering staying in Istanbul next season.
“He has a lot of offers and he will not stay at Besiktas,” Daum added.
Gomez joined Besiktas on-loan from Fiorentina last summer and played an instrumental role in the Black Eagles winning the league title scoring 28 goals.
The experienced striker got himself back into the Germany national team following his impressive breakthrough season at Besiktas.
The Istanbul giants would be able to offer Gomez first-team Champions League football next season but could face competition from Manchester United and Manchester City according to the Daily Star.
