Arda Turan will be staying at Barcelona next season according the club sporting director Robert Fernandez.
Speaking at a press conference today Fernandez stated the following: “We have total confidence in him. We expect a lot and we are looking forward to him being an important player next season.”
Turan had been closely linked with a move to the Premier League following reports that Goal that he had been transfer listed by Barcelona.
Manchester United and Arsenal were both interested in the bearded winger according to the Daily Star last month.
The Turkish international midfielder joined Barcelona on a five-year deal from Atletico Madrid last season but missed the first six-months of the season due to the FIFA transfer ban imposed on the club.
Turan finally made his debut in January and made 25 appearances in total scoring twice, providing four assists and winning the league title for the second time – as well as the Spanish Cup.
The 29-year-old will captain Turkey at Euro 2016 and has contributed to nine goals in his last 11 games for the Crescent-Stars.
