Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil has slammed his critics following Germany’s 0-0 draw with Poland in Euro 2016.
The former Bayern Munich star Mehmet Scholl highlighted Ozil’s “indifferent” body language during the game. The 27-year-old has previously been criticised by Arsenal fans and pundits for the same reason.
“I’m sorry but quite honestly I don’t care what others say,” Ozil told Bild.
“And that mustn’t influence me during this tournament. There are always people who tell us their opinion, usually negative. I don’t know if they have to or not.
“If a former player or anyone else wants to be in the headlines – that bounces off me. As I said, the manager’s opinion counts, Mr Low tells me the truth and what is wrong or right.”
Ozil is one of eight Germany born ethnic Turks in the tournament. Can is the other Germany international of Turkish origin while Turkey has six Germany born players.
The Arsenal star has played the full 90 minutes in Germany’s opening two games and is expected to start against Northern Ireland.
Joachim Low’s side can secure top spot in their group if they record a victory over Northern Ireland.
