Galatasaray manager Jan Olde Riekerink has confirmed interest in Lucas Leiva revealed that there have been talks with Liverpool.
Speaking at his Manchester United pre-match press conference Riekerink said: “Lucas is one of the players we are targeting. We have been in discussions and it is true we want an experienced midfielder.”
The Lions are willing to offer Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva a €2.6 million per-season deal according to Futbol Arena.
Galatasaray will hold talks with Liverpool regarding an agreement over his transfer fee. The Lions want to keep spending at a minimum over the summer after being hit with a European football competition ban for failing to meet FFP regulations.
Lucas is expected to leave the Reds over the summer which would end a nine year spell at the club.
The 29-year-old is however, currently out injured for a month with a hamstring strain but that has not seemed to put Galatasaray off trying to sign him.
Galatasaray have made just one signing over the summer bringing in defender Serdar Aziz from Bursaspor but Riekerink has confirmed that additional transfer will be made.
