West Ham have not made an official offer for Turkish international striker Burak Yilmaz according to Galatasaray manager Hamza Hamzaoglu.
The Lions boss did however, confirm that he has heard that the Hammers are preparing a bid.
“There is nothing official, I have heard that a serious offer is to be put forward but what is important is what Burak’s decision,” Hamzaoglu was quoted as saying by NTV Spor.
The former Akhisar manager decided not to start Yilmaz in the 2-2 draw against Sivasspor on Saturday 15 August.
The Hammers are currently suffering an injury crisis with their forwards. Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia are both injured and other options are limited.
The Premier League outfit were reported to have offered Yilmaz a bid worth €4 million per-season on a three-year deal according to Futbol Arena.
Bilic is reported to be a fan of the prolific striker from his stint in charge of rivals Besiktas last season.
“Burak Yılmaz is a player who has scored over 60 goals in his last two seasons of course I think he is a very good striker,” Bilic was quoted as saying on Lig Tv.
Yilmaz netted eight goals in nine Champions League appearances over the 2012-13 season, playing a crucial role in Galatasaray reaching the quarter-finals that year.
The Turkish international still has four-years left on his contract and played an important role in the Lions winning the league and cup double.
