“He played on the right side of a back three, we moved him up to play at the top of the midfield box and then put him back in to play in a sort of wide midfield role,” Rodgers was quoted as saying on the official Liverpool website.
“That’s one of the reasons we brought him here – he’s a footballer and sometimes you find that the very best footballers, you can play them in any position on the field.”
Can is a versatile player capable of playing as a midfielder or defender. Rodgers has played Can as a defender over the last six matches.
Liverpool have won five and drawn two of their last seven fixtures in all competitions, with the 21-year-old playing some part in all but one of those games.
Can has made 14 appearances for the Reds this season.
