Liverpool star Emre Can believes his side are at the start of a new era and that the best is yet to come.

“I definitely feel we’re at the start of a new era,” Can told the official Liverpool website.

“It’s a very, very young team with Phillippe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson and Lazar Markovic.”

“But I think the team needs to keep improving, and continue doing what we’re doing at the moment to get to these years. But I believe there are good years ahead.”

Liverpool have one of the youngest sides in the Premier League and several stars including Countinho, Raheem Sterling and Ibe Jordan are all under the age of 21.

Can joined Liverpool as a midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer but has featured mainly as defender in Brendan Rodgers back-three.

The Reds have only lost once in the Premier League with Can starting in defence.

The 21-year-old has one goal and one assist in 30 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season.

Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League and will face third placed Arsenal on their return from the international break.
