Barcelona star Arda Turan is currently the most decorated Turkish international to ever leave Turkey having won every domestic title in Turkey, Spain as well as the Europa League and European Super League but on this day in 2002 few could have him ever reaching the highest level.
On 26 February 2002 Turan was a ball boy for Galatasaray during their Champions League clash against Liverpool.

Niculescu opened the scoring for Galatasaray but Emile Heskey equalised for Liverpool in the 1-1 draw at the Ali Sami Yen stadium in Istanbul.
The Reds ended up winning the Champions League in Istanbul three years later against Italian giants AC Milan.
Interestingly enough Turan has revealed in the past that he is a Liverpool fan.
“I want to play in major leagues and my dream team is Liverpool,” the Turkey international was quoted as saying by the Express.
“As I always mention, Liverpool attracts me because of their tradition.
“In Europe, I am a Liverpool supporter, so if I go to play in Europe, I would like to play for them.”
Turan went onto become a Galatasaray player in 2004 and played 190 games for the Turkish league outfit before joining Atletico Madrid in 2011.
The attacking midfielder played at Atleti for four seasons winning every domestic title including the La Liga. Turan was also part of the side that won the Europa League, European Super League and reached the Champions League final.
Turan joined Barcelona in 2015 and was part of the championship winning side last season.
