Barcelona team news: Barca receive injury boost ahead of Sporting clash

Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano may feature for the reigning La Liga champions tonight against Sporting Gijon.

According to the Spanish outlet Sport, the Argentina international – who has been struggling with injury lately does have a chance to start tonights encounter.

Per-the-source, Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is likely to rotate his squad due to fixture congestion. The Catalan giants defeated Atletico Madrid on Sunday and face Celta Vigo this weekend.

In further good news for Enrique, Turkey international Arda Turan is also expected to return for Barcelona tonight.

The former Galatasaray star has participated in first team training this week and has overcome his muscle injury.

Enrique may decide to rotate his side if Turan and Mascherano are declared match fit.

Barca have three games within an eight game span with games against Sporting, Celta Vigo on the weaken and PSG on 8 March.

Barcelona can momentarily move into first place if they defeat Sporting tonight. However, they will be overtaken by their rivals Real Madrid if they defeat Las Palmas later in evening.

Arda Turan has been in good form for Barcelona this season with seven assists and 13 goals in 27 apperances for the Catalan giants.
