Liverpool v Arsenal: Confirmed lineups – Star defender out, Emre Can starts, Alexis Sanchez dropped

Arsenal take on Liverpool at Anfield in a clash that end up proving to be a pivotal point in the top four race.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be without star man Mesut Ozil who has been struck by a cold.

The Germany international of Turkish origin was sent home from training on Thursday and has not featured since.

Wenger will have defender Laurent Koscielny available after he recovered from injury in time for the game but Santi Cazorla is out injured.

The big selection news as far as Arsenal are concerned is Alexis Sanchez being dropped for Olivier Giroud.

Sanchez will star on the bench going into the Liverpool game.

Giroud does have a great record against the Reds and has scored five goals in his last seven Premier League appearances against Liverpool.

Iwobi will replace Mesut Ozil as the Gunners No.10, Welbeck will start out wide and Oxlade-Chamberlain will start on the other flank.

Liverpool meanwhile are without injured captain Jordan Henderson, striker Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings, Ovie Ejaria and Marko Grujic.

Emre Can has kept his place in central-midfield as a result of Henderson’s injury.

The Germany international of Turkish origin will start alongside Gini Wijnaldum.

Dejan Lovren has failed to recover in time for the Arsenal clash and the star defender has been left out of the squad.

Liverpool suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat against relegation strugglers Leicester City last week but they have not lost in their last three games at home against Arsenal.

Jurgen Klopp will become the first Liverpool manager since Gerard Houllier to win home and away against Arsenal in a single season.
