Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has heaped more misery on Mesut Ozil following the Gunners 2-2 draw with Man City.

SkySports pundit Gary Neville ripped into Ozil yesterday stating that the Germany international played ‘like he is down a coal mine.’

Henry has waded in stating that Ozil “doesn’t do enough on a daily basis.” Henry also stated that the 28-year-old’s performances are “sometimes not up to standard”.

Ozil has been criticised by fans and pundits for his role in Man City’s second goal. The former Real Madrid man has also failed to score since December 2016.

“He can clearly play and last year everyone was praising him,” Henry told Sky Sports.

“This year, he is struggling because he doesn’t do enough on a daily basis.

“When he plays in an Arsenal shirt, sometimes it is not up to the standard of Arsenal.

“I’m a big admirer of him and how he plays but if he was in my old team, I know a couple of guys would have had a go at him and maybe that is what he needs.

“In my old team, everyone talked. Sylvain Wiltord talked. Edu the same. Even Nwankwo Kanu would have said something. Jens Lehmann, he was talking all the time. We had guys at it throughout the team.”

“When he has a good game, he is unstoppable. He is a World Cup champion, he won at Real Madrid and he won two cups with Arsenal.

“But you need to play like that all the time. It can’t be from time to time.”

Arsenal find themselves in sixth place following their 2-2 draw with Man City. The Gunners are seven points behind the fourth placed Citizens however, they do have a game in hand.

Arsene Wenger’s side will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on West Ham United this week.

Ozil’s contract with Arsenal expires at the end of next season.
