Man United given transfer boost in race to sign £21m Brazilian ace after Besiktas pull out

Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Brazilian attacking midfielder Anderson Talisca.

Besiktas president Fikret Orman revealed that the Black Eagles will be unable to activate his £21 million release clause.

Talisca has been outstanding for Besiktas this season after joining on a two-year loan from Benfica last summer.

The 23-year-old has a two-year deal with the Istanbul giants but Benfica have set a £21 million release clause which can be activated at any time.

“Talisca has been in great form and is definitely an upgrade on Jose Sosa,” Orman was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

“He is a great kid and the fans love him but we will not be able to activate his €25 million [£21 million] release clause.

“There is simply no way we can afford him at the end of the season, the following season we would but will he be available be then? I don’t know.”

Turkish-Football reported that United have been scouting Talisca.

Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik meanwhile claim that Liverpool and Everton are also in the race.

Talisca has directly contributed to 15 goals this season – 10 goals, five assists – and scored another direct free-kick in the 3-0 victory over Genclerbirligi over the weekend.

Besiktas are still under the watch of Financial Fair Play and will have to keep within budget until at least the following season.

The Istanbul giants are currently first in the league and will take on Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals.
