The debate raged on for hours. Both were fantastic goals but whose overhead kick do you prefer?

Fair?
@PrimeMUFC @Rooney_esque Rooney’s more important, Can’s was better.

The argument used by Liverpool fans was that technically Rooney’s goal was inferior as the shot came off his shin pads.
@FootieFan99 @Rooney_esque @BowieNo7 @RolleignsFC Rooney shinned it bro Can’s was proper.

As tribute to the Emre Can goal, Sky Sports News HQ will dedicate a whole day to Wayne Rooney’s shinner against City a few years ago.

People on Football Twitter actually think Rooney’s goal was better than Emre Can’s, laughing.

Comparing Emre Can’s goal to that of the Rooney’s is like comparing this man’s hair to a bald head. pic.twitter.com/2SQZ24ZlzN

The United argument was that Rooney scored against tougher opposition in a more important game as it was a Manchester derby.
@space_oddity89 @Rooney_esque @herb1224 @AyoKeso @Brian_s20 Rooney’s better on the sole purpose of it was in a derby and a far better team.

If you think Emre Can’s goal is better than Rooney’s goal against City , then you know nothing about Football

@BBCSport Rooney (and I’m a Liverpool fan) – high pressure game and a derby, no question really. Emre’s was filth though!

@BBCSport No competition, Rooney’s every day of the week. The circumstances of the goal were just as special as the goal itself #bbcfootball #mufc
