Arsenal and Roma stepped up efforts to sign Oguzhan Ozyakup after increasing their offers to £13 million.

Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik report that both clubs have decided to match Besiktas’ asking price for the central midfielder.

Per the source, Besiktas turned down previous approaches made by the Gunners and Roma that did not meet their valuation.

Ozyakup has just over 12 months remaining on his current contract but has yet to sign an extension.

The 24-year-old rose through the youth system at Arsenal alongside Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin.

The former Arsenal man would have no work permit issues in regards to playing in England due to being born in the Netherlands.

Ozyakup joined Besiktas in 2012 to gain first-team football experience and has gone onto become a key player.

The central midfielder scored five times and provided 10 assists in all competitions for the Istanbul giants in all competitions this season.

Ozyakup has one goals in 26 international appearances for Turkey.
