“He will certainly have to defend more” – Arsene Wenger fires warning shots at Mesut Ozil & Alexis Sanchez
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has fired warning shots at his star duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Both Ozil and Sanchez’s contracts with the Gunners’ expires in under ten months and neither player is close to signing an extension.
Sanchez came close to a summer move to Manchester City however the deal broke down on deadline day. Ozil meanwhile has been linked with a move to Arsenal’s title rivals Manchester United in recent weeks.
Wenger sent a warning to his squad’s contract rebels while describing Kieran Gibbs’ situation.
“You look at the players who performed here and left, and you come back to me after,” Wenger told reporters at the pre-game press conference.
Wenger will be hoping his comment is listened to by Ozil, Sanchez and Arsenal’s other players whose contracts are running low.

Wenger also went to hit back at Gibbs who recently claimed that he will receive better defending practice following his move to West Brom.
“You should ask him what he means about being a better defender at West Brom,”
“He will certainly have to defend more because we are a team that goes forward and they are a team who focus more on defending.”
Arsenal take on West Brom in the Premier League tonight.
