Man City team news: Guardiola reveals £52m summer signing could start ahead of Shakhtar clash
Man City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed his £52 million summer signing Benjamin Mendy could feature during tonight’s UEFA Champions League clash.
The Citizens host Shakhtar Donetsk at the Etihad Stadium tonight, kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 (GMT).
City will be looking to record back-to-back wins in Group F following their 4-0 win over Feyenoord. In fact, Guardiola’s side have netted 22 goals in their last five games while only conceding once.
The Spanish tactician admitted that both Ilkay Gundogan and club captain Vincent Kompany will miss Tuesday evening’s game due to injuries.
Gundogan returned to first-team action against West Brom last week following a ten month injury layoff. Unfortunately, the Germany international suffered another knee injury midway though the second half.
Summer signing Benjamin Mendy is expected to feature tonight. The France international has been suffering with a thigh injury since his £52 million (BBC) move from Monaco this summer.

“We are going to make a test if he [Mendy] is able to play.” Guardiola told the clubs official website.
Shakhtar also won their opening Group F encounter. The Ukrainian giants defeated Napoli by a 2-1 scoreline.
City face a tough away trip to Chelsea this weekend in the Premier League.
