Wenger reveals Arsenal star wants to stay, agent confirms contract talks are ‘going well’
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil continues to face an uncertain future at the Emirates as a result of his contract situation.
The 28-year-old has under 12 months remaining on his contract but has yet to sign a new deal.
There have been rumours of a summer – even a January – exit but head coach Arsene Wenger has revealed that Ozil wants to stay in England.

Asked if Ozil wanted to stay in England, Wenger said: “That is my understanding, yes.
“I have always said that the fact we didn’t find an agreement last year doesn’t mean the player will necessarily leave.”
Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut also revealed yesterday that his client wants to continue playing Premier League football for another three years.
Additionally he said talks with Arsenal are going well.
“Ozil wants to play another 2-3 years in the Premier League,” Dr Sogut told the Fanatik.
“Talks with Arsenal are ongoing regarding a new deal, what I can say right now is that negotiations are going well.”
Despite Dr Sogut’s comments Wenger could not rule out the possibility of Ozil leaving the club in January.
Wenger said: “Once you are in our kind of situation, we have envisaged every solution yes.
“It’s possible.”
Ozil has had no shortage of interest with Manchester United as well as Fenerbahce and Besiktas being linked.
Dr Sogut did also confirm interest from Super Lig champions Besiktas.
“Besiktas are interested, Ozil is knows and is pleased to know they are keen,” he was quoted as saying in the Milliyet.
Ozil has recovered from a knee injury which ruled him out of the last few games and international break.
The playmaker of Turkish origin is expected to be fit for the Watford clash over the weekend.
